Yummy Spoonfuls founder Agatha Achindu tells us why healthy snacking is so important for little eaters. “Snack is a big part of our kid’s lives; some kids have as much as 3 snacks a day. The sad thing is that many of the snacks children consume are high-calorie, low-nutrient foods such as desserts, sugary, over-processed and salty snacks. It is no surprised that we continue to have so many diet-related diseases.” She writes in a blog entry highlighting the need for healthy food options for American children. She urges parents to shop smart. “At the market today consider swapping unhealthy food snacks with healthy fruits and vegetable.”

She even includes a very handy comparison chart to show the true difference small changes can make for your child’s overall health:

“Replacing a calorie-dense, low nutritive, overly processed snack with fresh fruits and vegetable not only reduce calorie intake but most importantly improve a child’s diet and thus their overall health.” Agatha writes.
